They do things a bit differently down under. At first I raised a brow, seeing a guy in Coles (the Australian Sainsburys) walking around barefoot came as a shock to me but I have now embraced the differences. So here are my freshly collected ways of living that arguably make everyone happier and healthier.
1. Let the dogs out!
Aussies are often barefoot. Instead of a smart casual dress code it's simply 'closed shoes' for fancy restaurants. Going around barefoot is actually incredibly grounding and has many health and spiritual benefits. What's even better is there's no judgement of your toes in Australia, unlike the UK.
2. "No worries"
This translates into 'your welcome' in Britain. But this casual saying sums up the way of life in Australia. The people of Australia are often care free, if somethings a stress, they solve it or they sunbathe as it's out of their control.
3. Work to live don't live to work
We can often get caught up in work, sacrificing our health, sleep schedule and spending time with our loved ones. For most Aussies work is done to afford their needs, family and free time comes first.
4. Listen to your body
In the UK we have an awkwardness and prudence around any conversation that isn't about the weather. Whereas in Australia everyone seems to be a bit more intune and open about their bodies. If one need to go for a number two, they do. There also seems to be a lot less plastic surgery, this could be because flights to Türkiye are more expensive from Australia.
The way if life is healthier, slower and more enjoyable, this maybe why the life expectancy is 3 years longer than the UK's and ranks highly on the global life expectancy charts.
